This page talks about protecting doomsday supplies and harvest from scavengers. These are tips on what to do before and after a doomsday event.
Pre-Doomsday Tips
When preparing for the worst-case scenario, it's crucial to ensure that your doomsday supplies remain intact and usable for an extended period. Whether you are stockpiling food, water, medical supplies, or other essentials, proper protection and storage are key to their longevity.
How can you protect your doomsday supplies from deterioration?
1. **Rotate your supplies:** Make sure to use and replace items on a regular basis to prevent expiration and spoilage. This practice will also help you identify any damaged or compromised items.
2. **Store in a cool, dry place:** Extreme temperatures can degrade the quality of your supplies. Aim to store them in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight and moisture.
3. **Use airtight containers:** Keep your supplies in airtight containers to prevent exposure to air, which can lead to oxidation and spoilage. Consider using vacuum-sealed bags for food items.
4. **Protect from pests:** Invest in pest-proof containers or use pest repellents to keep insects and rodents away from your supplies. Regularly inspect your storage area for any signs of pest infestation.
What are some common mistakes to avoid when storing doomsday supplies?
1. **Ignoring expiration dates:** Always check the expiration dates on your supplies and rotate them accordingly. Consuming expired items can be harmful to your health.
2. **Overlooking proper labeling:** Clearly label all containers with the contents and expiration dates. This will help you easily identify and track your supplies.
3. **Storing everything in one place:** Avoid storing all your supplies in a single location. In the event of a disaster or emergency, having supplies in multiple locations can increase your chances of access.
4. **Neglecting to update your supplies:** Regularly review and update your doomsday supplies based on your changing needs, preferences, and any new developments in emergency preparedness.
How can you extend the shelf life of your doomsday supplies?
1. **Invest in quality products:** Opt for high-quality, durable supplies that have a longer shelf life. This may require a higher upfront cost but can pay off in the long run.
2. **Consider preservation methods:** Explore preservation methods such as canning, dehydrating, or freeze-drying food items to extend their shelf life. These methods can help maintain the nutritional value of your supplies.
3. **Rotate and replenish regularly:** Make it a habit to rotate and replenish your supplies to ensure that you always have fresh, usable items on hand. This practice will also help you stay organized and prepared.
By following these tips and best practices, one can protect your doomsday supplies and ensure that they remain viable and effective when one needs them the most. Preparation is key to surviving and thriving in any emergency situation.
One should also practice gardening. After a doomsday event is the wrong time to start gardening.
This section is going to talk about defense, camouflaging the garden, hiding the seeds and harvest from scavengers. What good does it do for one to go through all the effort of producing seeds and harvesting produce if scavengers come and take it?
Defense
I decided to write this website after watching the show "Doomsday Preppers." I was amazed at all the stuff people doing to prepare for a doomsday event.
Very few talked about what to plant and how much of it, which is what we try to do here.
Have you ever wondered how you would defend your loved ones and supplies in a doomsday scenario? With the rise of doomsday prepping, it's essential to have a solid defense plan in place. Let's explore some effective defense strategies to protect your family and resources.
Choosing the Right Defense
While some may opt for traditional weapons like bows and arrows or hatchets, it's crucial to consider the efficiency of such tools in a high-stress situation. Before a crisis occurs, individuals must ask themselves tough questions like, "Am I prepared to take a life to protect my loved ones?"
Securing Your Supplies
When it comes to food and essential resources, it's vital to understand that scarcity can lead desperate individuals to seek out your supplies. In a doomsday event, the unprepared may flock to those who have stockpiled resources, posing a threat to your security.
Strategic Defense Planning
One effective defense strategy is to fortify your location and establish secure perimeters to deter potential threats. Implementing early warning systems and surveillance measures can help you detect and respond to intruders swiftly.
But eventually the hungry will come. By the hundreds. What will you do?
There has to be a better way to protect your supplies.
Here is a video on Preserving food. There are many videos on protecting your food.
Camouflaging is developing techniques to hide your garden from scavengers or other hungry people.
How to do this on a large scale is something I am still thinking about.
On a small scale, you can plant some vegetables in with flowers. Even carrots, beets, onions and other root crops can be grown low to the ground and their tops hidden by the height of the flowers. Plant sunflowers that grow two to three feet tall with beets that grow 12 to 18 inches tall. To the untrained eye, they may think the tops are just part of the flower garden.
One can also "hide" by planting off colors not found in the grocery store. Purple carrots instead of orange. People who do not know will think there is something wrong with purple carrots. However, purple vegetables are better for you. Plant a few with the orange.
Anyway we will have to think about this. If you have any ideas please email me at davidsgardenseeds@outlook.com.
In my opinion, the best way to hide your supplies is to develop techniques to use in protecting one's doomsday supplies is hiding them.
I will need to think on this a bit to come up with some good ideas.
We need to understand that if scavengers see us and we are looking healthy, like we have been eating, then they will enter our area and search for food. This may put our lives in danger.
What I think we should do is have several layers of hiding.
The first would be stuff out in the open. The second would be hidden but not to well. The third would be a bit harder to find. The fourth would be impossible to find without the "map."
Develop a couple of easy hiding stuff options so they can find it and will hopefully leave you alone. Don't lie and tell them you have nothing because if you are looking healthy, they will know you are lying. They may beat or kill you or you loved ones.
If you come up with some other ideals let me know at davidsgardenseeds@outlook.com. If I use them, I will give you credit in the posting.
Another thing is to hide your supplies in caches of "thirds". Third for use now. A third for use later. A third for emergencies or trading.
One thing that has multiple purposes would be alcohol. Not rubbing though having some on hand would be beneficial but the good stuff. One can use it as an antiseptic, anesthesia, gas for engines, trading, Molotove cocktails and just getting drunk to forget one is in a doomsday event.
I would have as many types of weapons on hand as possible. Gun powder, guns, bow and arrows, hatchets, hunting knives and machetes.
One can survive a doomsday event. But it requires prior planning, practice and thinking "what to do" scenarios and having a response for them.
